For generations, American taxpayers have spent trillions of dollars toward a military that has largely been focused on global military operations, often with failed results,and support for operations abroad is decreasing in every political direction. But how else does – and could – the Pentagon respond to pandemics, cybersecurity, climate change, and protecting Americans’ safety while saving lives and better presenting the United States in the broader world?

 

In the latest of the IOP’s events designed to bridge the military/civilian divide on campus and beyond, a provocative discussion between former New York Times Pentagon reporter Thom Shanker, co-author of the book Age of Danger, with Ben Kesling, a Marine Corps veteran and reporter for The Wall Street Journal.
