Live Taping of “The Axe Files” with Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield

Please join the IOP in welcoming Linda Thomas-Greenfield United States Ambassador to the United Nations, as she sits down with IOP Director David Axelrod for a taping of his CNN podcast, The Axe Files. Amb. Thomas-Greenfield joins us just a day before President Biden convenes a virtual Earth Day summit on climate change with world leaders and will discuss the key role that climate change and environmental protection plays in U.S. diplomacy. As a career diplomat, Amb. Thomas-Greenfield spent 35 years with the U.S. Foreign Service, and served as the Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs from 2013-2017. It was in this role that she was charged with leading the bureau focused on the development and management of U.S. policy toward sub-Saharan Africa. Previous to this, she represented the United States around the world as Ambassador to Libera, as well as in diplomatic postings in Switzerland, Pakistan, Kenya, The Gambia, Nigeria, and Jamaica.

Together, Amb. Thomas-Greenfield and Mr. Axelrod will discuss her path to becoming U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, her many years spent abroad, the Biden administration's diplomatic priorities, and her view of the U.S.’s position on the world stage.
