Spring Break at the IOP (Day 1)



 

Over the course of two days, the IOP's Career Development team will host panels on how to set yourself up for careers in politics and public service. Day 1 panels will be focused on getting hired in the following D.C.-focused sectors: Think Tanks, Politics/Government, and Media. Please come with any questions you may have for our guests about how to break into these fields. A food delivery credit will be sent to students who register for and attend all three panels on one or both days. 

Getting Hired at a Think Tank - 8-9 a.m. CST
Panelists: Geysha Gonzalez, Senior Director, Programs and Strategy at Center for European Policy Analysis
                  Lucy Green, Intern Coordinator & Talent Development Assistant at the American Enterprise Institute
                  Karen Witt (AB '86), Vice President, Human Resources at the Center for American Progress 

Getting Hired in Politics/Government - 9:30-10:30 a.m. CST
Panelists: Jake Kaplan, Political Director for U.S. Representative Brad Schneider (D-IL)
                  Nancy Pack, Deputy Chief of Staff to former U.S. Representative Will Hurd (R-TX)
                  Trudy Vincent, Associate VP of Federal Relations at UChicago's Office of Federal Relations
                    
Getting Hired in Media - 11 a.m.-12 p.m. CST
Panelists: Eric Cortellessa, Investigative Editor at Washington Monthly
                  Nicole Dungca, Investigative Reporter at The Washington Post
                  Zainab Imam, Communications Manager at the International Center for Journalists
