Please join the Institute of Politics and University Community Service Center as we welcome IOP Pritzker Fellow and former U.S. Congressman Luis Gutierrez represented Illinois's 4th congressional district from 1993 to 2019. Before his election to Congress, he served as a member of the Chicago City Council, representing the 26th ward. As a member of the Democratic Party, Representative Gutierrez was a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and is an outspoken advocate of workers' rights, LGBT rights, gender equality, and other liberal and progressive causes.

He will discuss his experience navigating Chicago Politics, progressive political change in the city, and his experiences serving the community through activism and politics. This session will be modeled off an IOP Pritzker Fellows Seminar and will serve as a preview for the Fall Pritzker Fellows seminars.  

This meeting will take place via zoom. The zoom link will be sent out to all participants the morning of the event.
