Description

Career Development Workshop - Interested in working on Capitol Hill? Curious about how to translate college-level internship experience into full time roles?

Join us for an intimate career conversation with Justin Folsom (legislative director to U.S. Sen. Jon Tester, D-MT) and Avery Pierson (legislative assistant to U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, R-OH) on Thursday, April 14th from 4:00-4:45 pm in the IOP Living Room.

From interning on campaigns to managing the legislative strategy for U.S. Senators, Folsom and Pierson have experience at all levels of the congressional staffing ladder. The two long-time staffers played key roles in negotiating the passage of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Students will have the opportunity to ask Folsom and Pierson about their college experiences, early career moves, and current roles. We ask that all students brainstorm a few questions before the event.

This conversation will precede the event “How the Sausage Gets Made: Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act,” where Folsom and Pierson will speak about the process of passing that monumental piece of legislation.

*This event is off the record and is open only to University of Chicago students.
